From Unemployment to Entrepreneurship: Zakaria's Journey to Empowering Youth through Farming

Meet Zakaria Deusi , a chairman of the UVIWAKA group from Lutale in Magu District. It has been three years since the UVIWAKA group was empowered with modern irrigation agriculture equipment, along with training on agriculture techniques and strategies to cope with climate change. This initiative helped them move away from relying on seasonal rains and instead embrace modern irrigation agriculture, all thanks to the DaCCA project implemented by MYCN and funded by Sustainable Energy.

Through this project and modern agriculture, Zakaria has managed to start his own businesses. He has opened a hair cutting salon and ventured into modern poultry farming, also he providing employment opportunities for other young people.

Today, Zakaria is one of the young leaders who has brought significant changes by creating self-employment through agriculture.
