Student Debate on Urban Development and Environmental Conservation

Mwanza Youth and Children Network (MYCN) organized a thought-provoking student debate at Igoma Secondary School and Fumagila Secondary School. The discussion centered on the topic: “Does Urban Development Contribute to Environmental Degradation?”

The debate brought together students on opposing sides—those in favor of the motion and those against it. Each side presented well-researched arguments, exploring how urban growth impacts the environment and how cities can develop sustainably without causing harm.

The event was attended by teachers from both schools, child journalists, the City Education Coordinator, and an Environmental Officer from Mwanza City. The discussion not only sparked critical thinking among students but also deepened their understanding of the importance of sustainable development.
